SYDNEY GAY & LESBIAN MARDI GRAS

Statement of Works

CommandPost® has been procured under a multi-year agreement to enhance Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras’ incident and emergency response capabilities through a single, integrated C4 (Command, Control, Communication and Coordination) solution.

Each year, the event attracts hundreds of thousands of people into the heart of Sydney – spanning a large, dynamic footprint across one of Australia’s most complex urban environments.

The introduction of CommandPost® has not only established a common operating picture and enabled teams to be connected, it has also equipped the organisation with advanced AI capabilities that enable the early identification of emerging risks, provides operators with the key recommended actions, and further equips the event with maintaining a proactive approach in the management of operational risks.

The deployment of advanced AI capabilities, through CommandPost®, marks a significant milestone in the maturation of AI-assisted emergency management for the event and sets a benchmark for future years.

Historically, operational coordination between control rooms had seen limited cross-centre visibility, which ultimately slowed the flow of critical updates. Through the implementation of CommandPost®, the solution has established interconnectivity between the Event Control Centre (ECC), Medical Operations Centre (MOC), Volunteer Operations Centre (VOC), and Government Coordination Centre (GCC). This has further aligned processes, workflows and reporting outcomes to ensure a highly effective command structure during time-sensitive incidents.

CommandPost® delivered real-time resource tracking for security and medical teams, enabling the control rooms to maintain real-time visibility of deployments, ensure coverage levels, adjust resource allocations and to maintain appropriate response capability. This further enabled security teams to manage the redeployment of personnel in response to changing crowd movements and strengthen the overall safety of the event.

CommandPost® integrated directly with NSW Government agencies, including for real-time authoritative data from Emergency Information Coordination Unit (EICU), Transport for NSW, NSW Health, and the NSW Rural Fire Service to enable a view across each control room.
